About
Medical disclaimer
Rinpa is education and wellbeing. It teaches gentle lymphatic self-massage for healthy adults. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it does not replace seeing a doctor, a physiotherapist or any other health professional.
Before you start
Before your first session, Rinpa asks a few safety questions based on the contraindications of the British Lymphology Society, the National Lymphedema Network and NHS leaflets. Depending on your answers, it asks you to check with your doctor, adapts the routine or stops it. Those questions are not a clinical assessment, and your answers stay on your device.
When not to do it and to see a doctor
Do not do self-massage, and see a doctor, if you have new or sudden swelling, especially on one side; a warm, red or painful calf; a fever or red, hot skin; or a new lump you do not know the cause of. The full list is in side effects and contraindications.
If you are short of breath or have chest pain, call your emergency number: 911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 in the European Union.
If you have a diagnosis
If you have lymphedema or lipedema, have had surgery or are being treated for cancer, lymphatic drainage is part of your treatment and your healthcare team sets it. Rinpa is not made for that: follow their guidance.
